ACJC girl tied up, roughed up, and humiliated on elite JC premises

What kind of birthday celebration is this, wonders an appalled STOMPer, who came across a video of an ACJC student tied to a chin-up bar, had cake stuffed in her face, and was blatantly humiliated right in school.

STOMPer outraged was shocked, to say the least, at the footage of the ‘celebrations’, which were put up in a popular online video channel.

And the final slap in the face? The video was tagged ‘loser’.

The birthday girl is tied to two chin-up poles

Mind you. ACJC is a co-ed institution, and whilst this was happening, other male students were around to witness her ordeal.

The birthday girl even broke down and cried in the video.

And at the end of it all, a staff member was seen admonishing the students not for doing these to her, but for messing up the place.

Dragged and humiliated

Says outraged:

“As seen, these are the student’s friends tying her to the chin-up bar in their school compound, directly in front of the canteen with a large number of people watching.

“She was dragged all the way to the compound.

“Subsequently, her movements were restricted and food thrown directly into the face and hair repeatedly, makes me utterly disgusted to watch.

Chocolate milk and cake are stuffed in her face

“Chocolate milk and foreign substances stuffed into clothing is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. I am very enraged by this act.

“It is an awful sight and there is no way the victim is enjoying this.

“As ridiculous as it gets, in the first video at 9:20, a female was trying to untie the victim.

“Unbelievably, without hesitation another person shoved her hand away and stopped her immediately.

“No one else bothered to stop the act and what left me dazed was peers laughing and cheering throughout the entire act.

“To say that the victim was not hurt emotionally, nor her image tarnished, and that she would not suffer any negative effects on her would be an outright lie.

“What kind of a birthday celebration is this?

“And to top it off, with reference to the attached picture , "tagged loser.jpg", it's disheartening to see that the person who uploaded the footage actually personally wrote "loser" as one of the tags to the video.

“Is it merely a celebration on the surface or just a facade to intentionally cause emotional distress to someone?

“Clearly there's more than what meets the eye here.

“To post this in a public domain would be a direct harassment and humiliation to the person.

“How insensitive can they be towards their peer? Shouldn't they respect the emotions and pride of their schoolmate?

“Although birthday pranks are generally harmless and for the intent of everyone having a good time, this has clearly gone overbroad.

An ACJC staff scolds the girls for messing up the place

“I am not exaggerating this incident but if such things were to happen to me. I will not be able to control my emotions and I wouldn't be able to study in such an environment with peers like this around. Unmistakably, I will be mentally and emotionally hurt being embarrassed in front of everyone in my school, and also the entire footage being uploaded onto the internet allowing everyone else in the world to watch me being humiliated.

“I do not want to be the next person nor anyone else to be in such a state.”

The STOMPer, also a student, wants to highlight this issue, which the former feels is akin to bullying, and hopes that the emotional well-being of students will not be affected by such irresponsible acts.

Likewise, the contributor feels this incident has thoroughly tarnished ACJC’s reputation.

Outrage hopes the matter will be looked into, and that school rules be revised to ensure the safety of students.

ACJC's principal says the students involved in this incident have been counselled to show their friendship in other ways.

This is seriously sick. Goodness, you should look at the videos! And most of the people doing it are GIRLS. Ok, so who said anything about boys are more into physical aggression, and girls are into relational aggression. This is total madness. And somebody commented that she might be enjoying it as a form of bondage.

WTH!

And to top it off, many ACJC students (e.g. http://alvinology.wordpress.com/2008/11/15/pissed-off-acjc-student-javier-yeo-defends-schools-ragging-culture/) have reacted angsty-ly to claim that it's actually their school culture, and people who can't appreciate it are just not cool yada yada yada. Ya, why don't you let me shove snakes and centipedes and tarantulas down your shirt next time, and let me know if it's cool or not.

Crazy bunch of people. I am SO totally speechless lah! I actually saw it in Xinmin Ribao that the students actually retorted that anybody who can't appreciate this is 老古板! Ok, I think you can call me Lao Gu Ban from today onwards. I'll gladly accept that as long as I don't get cakes and chocolate milk shoved down my school blouse, tied to chin-up poles, or savaged in front of everybody like nobody's business.

Grossed out.
