may i ask: what's the difference between synapses and synaptic gap/cleft?
coz it is stated in santrock that Synapses is the tiny JUNCTION between 2 neurons, generally where the axon of one neuron meets the dendrites or cell body o0f another neuron; and Synaptic gap is the GAP between neurons. erm.. so what's the difference between gap and junction? =X

Ok, the answer is a simple one..there is no difference between the two. Synapse = synaptic cleft/gap. They are interchangeable terms. That is 3 different ways of putting it, I hope it has therefore eased your mind on this perplexing issue.;)
